PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal reproduction device that can restore a reproduced digital signal excellently even when the reproduced digital signal has some distortion. SOLUTION: In a signal reproduction device that decodes a digital code for a digital signal reproduced from a magnetic recording medium by a magnetoresistive effect type reproduction head using the Viterbi decoding method, the device is characterized by having a level detection circuit 19 for detecting a positive side signal level and negative side signal level of the reproduced digital signal respectively, and a threshold value setting means 20 for setting a positive side threshold value and negative side threshold value respectively for performing the Viterbi decoding using the values of the positive side signal level and negative side signal level detected in the level detection circuit.
