PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric rotating machine which can enhance the efficiency when a Randel type field rotor is employed. SOLUTION: A rotor 10 included in an AC generator for vehicle comprises a rotary shaft 2, a field winding 3, an annular laminated core 4, and a permanent magnet 5. The permanent magnet 5 is interposed between the annular laminated core 4 and the nail-like support 13 of a rotor core 1 and one half thereof in the rotational advancing direction is magnetized with the same polarity as the nail-like support 13 while the other half thereof is magnetized with the opposite polarity. The annular laminated core 4 has a pole center slit 142 and an inter-pole slit 143. Since the pole center slit 142 is provided along with the permanent magnet 5, armature reaction flux 221 can be reduced.
