PURPOSE: A pickup center sensing method is provided to be capable of reducing a calibration time of a pickup center by sensing the pickup center using a mark and a vision camera. CONSTITUTION: A method for sensing a pickup center of a tape reader comprises a step of scanning marks attached on a reel cover by shifting a vision camera, which is shifted by an X-Y gantry, into the tape reader(S11), a step of comparing a scanned image with a mark image stored in a controller during the scanning step(S12), a step of scanning a part pocket center formed at a tape reel by horizontally shifting the vision camera along the X-Y gantry when the scanned image is identical to the mark image stored in the controller(S13), and a step of shifting a head unit into the part pocket center(S14).
