The invention concerns miniaturized contractile nerve-muscle co-cultures and their uses, for research purposes, screening molecules, biological studies, therapeutic treatments, toxicity, pharmacogenomics and the like. The invention also concerns novel methods for miniaturized contractile nerve-muscle co-culture in devices of small dimensions, typically in microplate wells. The invention further concerns devices and kits designed to produce such co-cultures, their preservation, their transport and their uses.
