PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetron having high efficiency. SOLUTION: This magnetron comprises an anode portion formed with an anode cylinder 6 and vanes 7. A cathode portion consists of a coil-like filament 1, and magnetic poles 9 and 10 disposed at the top and bottom, and ring permanent magnets 19 and 20, and input and output portions. Here, diameterϕ(a) of a circle inscribed with the tops of the vanes for forming the anode portion is made to be 7.5 to 8.5 mm, and an outer diameterϕ(c) of the coil-like filament 1 for forming the cathode portion is made to be 3.4 to 3.6 mm.
