PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately handle a multi-channel signal such as a multiplex audio signal. SOLUTION: By a 1st formatter (FRM), at least two channels of audio data are converted to an audio stream of a 1st format becoming a single stream. The audio stream of the converted 1st format is recorded by a 1st recorder (HDD). By a 2nd formatter (30), the audio stream of the 1st format recorded on the 1st recorder is converted to one stream for every channel to generate at least the 1st and 2nd audio streams, and a stream discriminator (sub-stream ID) is given to the 1st and 2nd audio streams corresponded to each channel to convert it to the audio stream of a 2nd format.
