PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which has a heat-pressing type fixing device which exhibits uniform heat generation and high heating efficiency by having the space distance between an electromagnetic induction heating coil and a heating roller reduced. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus which has the heat-pressing type fixing device, the heat-pressing type fixing device is provided with: an endless fixing belt stretched over the heating roller and a first pressing roller; a pressing means provided between the first pressing roller and second pressing roller to press together the fixing belt and a transfer material which supports a unfixed image and transports the unfixed image at the same speed as the fixing belt; and a pressing force application and release means provided with an electromagnetic induction heating coil built in the heating roller and applying and releasing the pressing force to the second pressing roller of the pressing means. The electromagnetic induction heating coil is interlocked with the heating roller and moves concentrically with the heating roller with the application and release of the pressing force by the pressing force application and release means.
