PURPOSE: A method for automatically replacing a carrier tape reel and a device thereof are provided to reduce man-hour and the replacing times of reels by storing a plurality of empty reels and reels in a reel case, to keep other reel charged in a winding device continuing take-up motions while the reel is replaced with opening the reel case, and to exactly wind up and replace reels as a plurality of sensors detect each working process. CONSTITUTION: When an empty reel and a reel(9) are inserted in a reel case(20) opened by hydraulic pressure, the empty reel is charged with a winding device as a cross-slide(31) supports the empty reel. The winding device charged with the empty reel moves the empty reel to a working position and takes up a carrier tape. The reel completely wound up is discharged to a discharging rod(23) and stored.
