PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a table of contents generation device that can easily and accurately generate table of contents data as wished by a user from read manuscript data. SOLUTION: In a copying machine 1, a scanner 2 reads a manuscript to acquire manuscript data, and a marking recognition part 5, if marked data indicating that the user has added marking in the manuscript exist in the manuscript data, recognizes the data. An operation part 9 can display the marked data recognized with the marking recognition part 5 to receive selection instructions for an object used for a caption of the table of contents from the user. Then, a table of contents organizing part 6 uses the marked data to be used for the caption of the table of contents to generate table of contents data. An image processing part 4 outputs the table of contents data and copied data of the manuscript as print data in a given format, and a printer part outputs the print data in the form of printed matter. |
