PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material in which the color of a dye incorporate to improve the sharpness is rapidly erased during heat development, to provide a heat developable photosensitive material for IR laser exposure having high image quality in which a dye with a non-erasing color incorporated to improve the sharpness produces little color tone in the visible region in an image after the heat development, and to provide a method for treating the material. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material contains a non- photosensitive silver source, photosensitive silver halides and a reducing agent in one face side on a supporting body, and moreover, the photosensitive material has at least one layer of a non-photosensitive layer on the other face side on the supporting body. The non-photosensitive layer contains at least one kind of dye in a solid fine particle state. The number of the solid fine particles of the dye having >=1μm diameter of the projected area in terms of a circle is <=100 particles per 0.1 mm square unit area. The volume weighted average of the particle size of the dye is <=1.0μm.
