METHOD AND DEVICE FOR EXTENDING BATTERY USE TIME BY MANAGING DATA SERVICE USE HISTORY OF MOBILE COMMUNICATION TERMINAL

PURPOSE: A method and a device for extending a battery use time by managing a data service use history of a mobile communication terminal are provided to minimize continuously switched hybrid operations for monitoring mutually different communication networks. CONSTITUTION: If a user powers on(200), a mobile communication terminal is initialized. Synchronous channel information necessary for the communication with the nearest base station is received(210). Whether an EV-DO(EVolution Data-Only) communication network exists is checked from an indicator included in the synchronous channel information(220). If so, a use history of the EV-DO communication network by the user is inquired(230). If the EV-DO communication network does not exist in the step 220 or if a use history of the EV-DO communication network does not exist in the step 230, a mode of the mobile communication terminal is converted to a CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) 1x dedicated mode to connect a CDMA 1x communication network(250). And if a use history of the EV-DO communication network exists in the step 230, the mobile communication terminal connects the EV-DO communication network and periodically monitors paging slots of the CDMA 1x communication network(260).
