The casting of a metal component containing a reinforcing element consists of: (a) elaborating an insert (1) incorporating the reinforcing element sunk in an insertion metal and an external surface (2) coated with insertion metal; (b) placing the insert in a casting mould (3) and casting liquid metal into the mould; (c) prior to casting the liquid metal, the external surface of the insert is covered with a coating of insertion metal; (d) the insert is heated to a temperature of between 0.4 and 0.6 times the component metal melting point; (e) during casting, an intense circulation (5) of liquid metal in contact with the external surface of the insert is produced to remelt the insertion metal and to prevent the formation of an oxide layer of cast metal in contact with the external surface of the insert. An Independent claim is also included for a device for the casting of a metal component containing a reinforcing element. In the case of aluminum or aluminum alloy the coating is of electrolytic silver or silver salt and the insert is heated to a temperature of 320 to 370 deg C.
