PURPOSE: A method for managing an IP(Internet Protocol) address and a MAC(Medium Access Control) address in a VoIP(Voice over IP) system is provided so that an upper processor card in the VoIP system registers and manages the IP address and the MAC address as pair according to a slot and a service is continuously performed without communication disconnection in case that a line card is substituted by the fault of the line card. CONSTITUTION: In case that fault is generated in a line card mounted on a specific slot and another line card is substituted(S405,S406), an upper processor card reads an IP address and a MAC address corresponding to the slot on which the line card is mounted from a slot address table(S407). The upper processor card transmits the IP address and the MAC address to the substituted line card(S408). The substituted line card receives the IP address and the MAC address from the upper processor card, stores the IP address and the MAC address in an internal information region, and performs a communication with an object VoIP system according to the stored IP address and MAC address(S409).
