PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress grating nearest a main peak in an array antenna apparatus and an array antenna signal-synthesizing method. SOLUTION: The array antenna apparatus comprises a plurality of (element numbers n=1 to n=9) that are arranged at an equal interval as an element for synthesizing beams, an antenna element 2 as M (element number m=1 to m=5) reference elements that are arranged at an equal interval of an element interval d/M to an element interval (d) in the element 1 for synthesizing beams, a means such as an array synthesis section 5 for forming M synthesis amplitude patterns that are synthesized by adjusting the phase of the reception signal of the antenna element as an element for synthesizing beams with each reception signal of the M reference elements as a reference, and a means such as an addition synthesis section (comparison section) 6 for adding/synthesizing or comparing the M synthesis amplitude patterns. Additionally, one of the plurality of antenna elements 1 as elements for synthesizing beams is also used as the reference element, and an antenna element as the reference element can be arranged near the antenna element at an interval of d/M.
