PURPOSE: An automatic reinforcing steel amount calculation method is provided to definitely calculate a real weight and a weight per unit length by extracting necessary amount from a reinforcing steel arrangement drawing based on a structure drawing and a specification. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. A calculation reference for each member and a reinforcing steel is input besides basic data on a building like the number of floors. The reinforcing steel data according to characteristics of each member, like a diameter or a shape, is input after a member list input window is activated. At least one among a center line, an X grid and a Y grid is formed, and a position for each member is input after a structure plane drawing input management window for each member is activated. A necessary amount of the reinforcing steel is calculated based on the calculation reference and the reinforcing steel data after a calculation window in connection with the structure plane drawing is activated. A reinforcing steel shape is selected and dimensions are input based on the input grid for automatically calculating the length or the division number after a direct shape input window. The floor and member of the building and the grid are selected, and then a steel process state, a tag or a construction rate for each member is output.
