PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional power converter wherein the capacity of the power converter cannot deal flexibly with various modes, e.g. various uses or capacities, from a power converter for short time operation to an ordinary power converter. SOLUTION: Junction temperature of a semiconductor element is estimated from a current being supplied to a load from a power converter comprising the semiconductor element and then an operable time elapsing before the junction temperature reaches a limit operable temperature is estimated. Rating of the power converter is set by the load current and the estimated operable time. |
