PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp, of which light emission efficiency is enhanced without complicating its manufacture. SOLUTION: The electrodeless discharge lamp comprises a bulb 1 and an induction coil 5. The bulb 1 has a hollow 30, in which the induced coil 5 is placed and an area 9 which is recessed into the bulb for enlarging the inner area, other than the hollow 30. Phosphor 8 is applied to the inner surface of the bulb 1. Since the area 9 of the bulb 1 is recessed, the applied area of phosphor 8 is increased, which results in the enhancement of the light emission efficiency, in comparison with the first conventional lamp. Since the area other than the hollow 30 is recessed, the bulb 1 is processed more easily than the third conventional lamp and prevents the manufacturing from becoming difficult. |
