PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressed mail communication system without the need of providing an expansion part in a reception side portable terminal by providing a relay server provided with the expansion part in the Internet in the compressed mail communication system in which mail is compressed and transmitted. SOLUTION: This compressed mail communication system is provided with the relay server on the Internet. The relay server is provided with a data expansion means receiving and expanding compressed data from a transmission side portable terminal and a second header addition means adding a header including an address to the reception side portable terminal, and transmits mail data to which the header is added through the Internet to the reception side portable terminal. The transmission side portable terminal is provided with a compression means compressing the mail data and a first header addition means adding the header including the address to the relay server, and transmits the mail data to which the header is added to the relay server.
