PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for correcting meandering of the strip is provided, which prevent strip meandering caused when a strip passing through an annealing heating furnace is twisted. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for correcting meandering of a strip (S) passing through a heating furnace(10), the apparatus and method for correcting meandering of the strip comprises a meandering sensing part comprising a contact member installed at both sides of the strip transferred by driving roll(12) inside the heating furnace so that the contact member is contacted with the strip when the strip is twisted, and a grounded relay connected to the contact member to detect meandering of the strip according to whether the strip is contacted with the contact member or not; a driving roll controller(30) for controlling operation of the driving roll; a tension detector for detecting tension applied to the strip; a driving cylinder penetratingly installed at the heating furnace to correct twisted strip; and a control part for sensing signals detected from the grounded relay and tension detector and controlling the driving cylinder and driving roll controller by operating the sensed signals detected from the grounded relay and tension detector.
