PURPOSE: An apparatus for sensing molten iron level of torpedo ladle car for transferring molten iron is provided to accurately measure the amount of molten iron received into the torpedo ladle car when molten iron produced from blast furnace is received into the torpedo ladle car. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a detection part comprising first and second vertical rods (120a,120b) which are put into the torpedo ladle car to be moved vertically as the upper surface of molten iron is being ascended, a horizontal support (102) whose both end parts are moved vertically centering around a support fixing bar by vertical movement of the first and second vertical rods, and a float (200) vertically moved according to height of the upper surface of molten iron with being mounted on the end part of the first vertical rod; a control part (600) comprising a limit switch (100) which is turned on by being pressed when the first and second vertical rods and horizontal support (102) are sequentially operated according to the ascent of the float (200), and a photodiode for sensing light generated from a light emitting diode by outputting signals according to turning-on of the limit switch so that workers observe the amount of molten iron in the torpedo ladle car from the outside of the torpedo ladle car; and a guiding part into which an inner cylindrical pipe (250) and an outer cylindrical pipe (240) are received, the first and second vertical rods of the detection part are received into the inner and outer cylindrical pipes (250,240), and which are fixed to the upper part of the torpedo ladle car so that the first and second vertical rods (120a,120b) are stably moved up and down, wherein the apparatus senses if the upper surface of molten iron is ascended so that workers know the ascent of the upper surface of molten iron.
