PURPOSE: A protecting box of a water meter is provided to prevent a cover from lifting up and to prevent the damage of a cover caused by direct load. CONSTITUTION: The protecting box of a water meter(10) contains: a protecting box of a water meter provided with a backing end projection(1) having a bearing wall(5) and covered with a cover(20) to prevent an inflow of impurities into the protecting box of a water meter(10); an insert projection(2) fitted closely to the bearing wall(5) of the protecting box; an incline(4) formed on the corresponding outside of the protecting box provided with the backing end projection(1); and a packing(3) attached to the outside of the insert projection(2) of the cover(20) where the protecting box of a water meter(10) is fitted.
