PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a POS system to be introduced to a mass retail store for summing the prices of a plurality of types of merchandise purchased by users and to carry out fare adjustment by employing a POS register which acquires merchandise information registered in IC chips for specifying the merchandise through short-range radio communication. SOLUTION: This system is provided with: IC chips equipped with merchandise information for specifying merchandise and information transmitting functions for transmitting the merchandise information; and a POS register equipped with an information receiving function for successively receiving the merchandise information from those IC chips through short-range radio communication. The POS register is provided with: a unit price table in which unit price information is registered; and a fare adjustment means for summing the merchandise prices by the unit price information based on the information acquired for a plurality of types of merchandise and performing fare adjustment. |
