PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record and store video data corresponding to a period of time between a point in time of video recording operation and the present time in a video recording area even when the video recording operation is performed during time difference reproduction. SOLUTION: When a user operates a video recording switch during a time shift operation for the reproduction of the video data of a certain program at, for example, 9:30 which is 30 minutes earlier than the present time of 10:00, a controlling part detects that the video recording switch has been operated during the time shift operation, first ensures a transfer area 3c to which the recorded data in a buffer area 3a that corresponds to the 30 minutes between the 9:30 and 10:00 can be transferred, controls a writing means to start video recording of the video data of the program from 10:00 being the present time in the video recording area 3b after the transfer area 3c, and returns to the transfer area 3c to transfer recorded data of the buffer area 3a that corresponds to the 30 minutes between 9:30 and 10:00 after finishing recording the data started at 10: 00 to the video recording area 3b.
