PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magazine system for storing and processing a DLT cartridge system or a LTO cartridge system. SOLUTION: The cartridge magazine system (300) consists of a sleeve (306), pivot members (402) for preventing the perfect insertion of the cartridge system into the sleeve (306) when the cartridge system is inserted therein in an incorrect direction and flag positioners (418). Flags (312) locate the cartridge system to a first position when the sleeve (306) does not possess the perfectly inserted cartridge system, to a second position when the sleeve (306) possesses the perfectly inserted linear tape cartridge system of a first type and to a third position sleeve (306) possesses the perfectly inserted linear tape cartridge system of a second type.
