PURPOSE: A pseudo-contour correcting device is provided to reduce pseudo-contour effect to offer optimum display environments. CONSTITUTION: A pseudo-contour correcting device includes a sub-field generator(31) and a signal processor(33). The sub-field generator finds sub-field arrangement from frames inputted to a display(34), and then reversely applies the sub-field arrangement for each frame according to a frame discrimination signal and outputs the frames. The signal processor processes the frames to display the sub-field arrangement. The correcting device further includes a frame counter for counting a vertical synchronous signal indicating a frame to output the frame discrimination signal to the sub-field generator. The sub-field generator finds the sub-field arrangement having the smallest gray-level difference between sub-fields.
