PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based resin composition for artificial leather, having high light resistance and durability and the like. SOLUTION: This water-based resin composition essentially comprises a water-based polyurethane resin and an ultraviolet-absorbing resin obtained by reaction of a specific ultraviolet-absorbing group-bearing polyester polyol; wherein the ultraviolet-absorbing resin is an ultraviolet-absorbing urethane resin which is obtained by reaction between the polyester polyol, a compound containing ionic and/or nonionic surface-active group(s), an organic polyisocyanate and, as necessary, an additional polyol.
