PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst that permits the progress of propylene polymerization with high initiation efficiency and gives a polypropylene polymer of high molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution and to provide a method of producing polypropylene by using the same. SOLUTION: The catalyst comprises a titanium diamide complex represented by general formula (1): [ArN(CH2 )3 NAr]TiX2 (wherein Ar is 2,6- diisopropylphenyl and X is a halogen or a 1-10C alkyl) and dried aluminoxanes. In the method of producing polypropylene, this catalyst is used.
