PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high-purity camptothecin even if plants, which are rich in resins and chlorophyll, such as young Nothapodytes foetida and so on, are used as the raw material. SOLUTION: The production method of camptothecin includes an extraction process which extracts camptothecin from Nothapodytes foetida or Elbatamea containing camptothecin, separation process using nonaqueous solvent(s), adsorption process and dissolution-and-extraction process using nonaqueous solvent(s). High-purity camptothecin obtained by the present invention is useful for the production of drugs for treating cancers and so on.
