PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform sheet feed with constant reliability by eliminating multiple feed by means of a separating slope system. SOLUTION: This sheet feeder 2 comprises a cassette 3 for accommodating the sheets, and a sheet feed roller 4 for separating the sheets accommodated in the cassette 3 one by one and delivering them. A separating slope 3a which separates the sheets one by one in cooperation with the sheet feed roller 4 is provided on the front end side of the cassette 3 in the sheet feed direction. A fan 20 is provided at a hole 3b which is formed at the separating slope 3a so that air may be communicated. When the plurality of sheets are delivered to the separation slope 3a from the sheet feed roller 4 by the rotation of the fan 20, the sheet at a lower section adjacent to the sheet on the top is sucked by vacuum suction force, thus preventing multiple feed of the sheets.
