PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent burn-out of a driving coil of a recording head without lowering a throughput. SOLUTION: The recording head of a recorder comprises a head body having a plurality of recording wires and a thermistor for detecting the temperature of the head body. There is disclosed a method of controlling the recording head of the recorder wherein a recording operation is performed by ejecting the recording wires to record an image on a sheet. A recording pattern of the image to be recorded on the sheet by the recording head is detected beforehand. A speed-down setting temperature for lowering a recording speed of the recording head by reducing a driving frequency of the recording head based on the temperature detected by the thermistor is changed to be set corresponding to the recording pattern.
