PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive gear for turning a turret in a winding and rewinding machine which is downsized by unitizing a drive gear rotationally driving a rotating shaft of the turret, and can be fitted directly to the rotating shaft of the machine body and easily assembled. SOLUTION: In the device for turning the turret which turns and indexes a winding core for winding sheet-like or film-like articles, the drive gear 20 for rotationally driving the rotating shaft 3 of the turret 2 supporting the winding core is unitized so that a geared motor 22 in conjunction with an input shaft 24 is installed to a gear case 23 with a built-in gear reducer mechanism 29 composed of an input shaft 24 and an output shaft 25. The output shaft 25 is formed in a hollow shaft fitted to the end part of the rotating shaft 3, and is equipped with a shrink disk 30 as a shaft coupling, while the gear case 23 is connected to and supported by the fixed part 42 of the machine main body via a torque arm 45.
