PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat resistant magnesium alloy, which does not lower bolt axial-tension even when used in a high temperature environment (about 200 deg.C). SOLUTION: The heat resistant magnesium alloy comprises 0.5-3.8 mass% gadolinium and the balance magnesium with unavoidable impurities. The heat resistant magnesium alloy further includes 1-15 mass% of at least one element selected from the lanthanide group of lantern to europium in the element periodic table. The heat resistant magnesium alloy includes again further less than 1 mass% of at least an element selected from the group consisting of zirconium, zinc, aluminum, manganese and strontium.
