PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing benzyl(difluoromethyl) sulfide in a high yield using a solvent which is industrially easily used. SOLUTION: The method for synthesizing benzyl(difluoromethyl)sulfide comprises reacting benzyl melcaptan or its salt with chlorodifuluoromethane in the presence of a solvent or a base. This method is characterized in that a mixture solvent of an alcohol and water is used as the solvent.
