PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable good printing even when specific ribbons including gold color ribbons and silver color ribbons as well as standard ribbons such as black ribbons are used and to enhance diversity, versatility and also possibility of printing. SOLUTION: In printing on a printing object P to be transferred by a thermal transfer system by pinching the object P between a platen roller 2 set to one side and a printing part 5 having an ink ribbon and a printing head 4 set to the other side, there are set a specific mode in which the specific ribbon 3s including the gold color ribbon or the silver color ribbon is used as the ink ribbon and a standard mode in which the standard ribbon 3 other than the specific ribbon 3s is used as the ink ribbon. In the specific mode, a transfer direction distance Lp where the specific ribbon 3s is brought into contact with the object P is set to be longer than that of the standard mode.
