Method of treating keratinous fibers comprises coloring in the usual way and treating with an agent containing dithionite salt(s) (I) and surfactant(s) (II). An Independent claim is also included for agent for changing the color of colored keratinous fibers, obtained by mixing an aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic formulation (A) with an anhydrous formulation (B) containing (I), where at least one of the formulations contains (II), immediately before use.
