PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the operation of an optional unit by externally supplying information being used for processing in the optional unit. SOLUTION: When a sheet feed unit for feeding a recording medium to an imaging apparatus is coupled as an optional unit 302, information of the thickness of a recording medium set in the cassette of the sheet feed unit, and the like, is transmitted from the system controller 102 of the imaging apparatus to an optional unit controller 104 where the operational parameters concerning to the lift operation of the cassette or the torque of a sheet feed motor are altered to appropriate values based on the transmitted information. |
