PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording material having both of excellent color forming properties and image stability. SOLUTION: The thermal recording material is constituted by providing a thermal color forming layer, which contains a colorless or light-colored leuco dye being a color forming substance, a developing substance containing 4,4'- dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone and/or 2,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone and a sensitizer, on a support. The sensitizer contains a compound represented by formula (1) (wherein, R<1> , R<2> , R<3> and R<4> are each independently hydrogen, a halogen, a 1-4C alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an acyl group, a 2-4C alkenyl group, a 2-5C alkoxycarbonyl group, a non-substituted phenyl group or a halogen or 1-4C alkyl group substituted phenyl group, a phenoxy group or an aralkyl group). |
