PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a thread-shaped paste generated by a cobwebbing phenomenon from sticking to a paper, when a viscous paste is applied to a paper such as an envelope or a form. SOLUTION: When an envelope 1 is separated from a paste applying part 10a by means of a roller 50b after a paste 5 is applied to the envelope 1 under such a state that the envelope 1 and the paste applying part 10a remain in contact with each other, air is blown to a space formed between the envelope 1 and the paste applying part 10a from an air blowing part 70. Consequently, when the envelope 1 is separated from the paste applying part 10a, a thread- shaped paste 5 generated by a cobwebbing phenomenon between the paste 5 which happens to be viscous and is applied to the envelope 1 and the paste applying part 10a, is separated from the paste applying part 10a. After that, the thread-shaped paste 5 is brought into contact with a blade 81, then cut and sucked by a suction part 80, under such a state that one end of the thread- shaped paste 5 is sucked by a suction part 80 in a direction where the one end leaves the envelope 1. |
