PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for a plated molded article whereby the surface of a two-color molded article having an elastic layer molded integrally with the back side of a molded resin article can be plated without forming minute bumpiness. SOLUTION: In the production method, the surface of a molded article having an elastic layer molded, as a secondary molded article, integrally with at least a part of the one side of a primary molded article is plated. The method includes the step of etching the surface of a molded article by immersing it in a chromic acid-sulfuric acid mixture. The etching is done under such conditions that: (a) the temperature of the acid mixture is 65-69 deg.C, (b) the concentration of chromic acid in the acid mixture is 370 g/L-390 g/L, and (c) the concentration of sulfuric acid in the acid mixture is 190 g/L-230 g/L.
