PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly and stably feed various kinds of printing objects including single paper business cards, or postcards, such as and envelopes. SOLUTION: This paper feeder 1 comprises a pickup roller 3 abutting on the top face of on a paper feeding tray 2, stacked printing objects, a feed roller 4 located in front of the pickup roller 3 in the feeding direction Fc, a retard roller 5 located under the feed roller 4, and a paper feeding roller mechanism 6 for feeding the printing objects P one by one by rotating the pickup roller 3 and the feed roller 4. A load changing mechanism 7 is provided for changing a load applied from the pickup roller 3 to the printing objects P on the paper feeding tray 2 corresponding to the kind of the printing objects.
