PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a fine granular powder of metals with a gas atomization method, which have high melting points and are active at high temperature. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a Ti or Ti alloy powder comprises accelerating a molten metal flow 4 for gas atomization with an electromagnetic pump 10, and narrowing a diameter of the molten metal flow in colliding with a jet gas. The apparatus for manufacturing a powder of Ti or a Ti alloy has a non-contact type electromagnetic pump 10 for accelerating a downstream flow, which is installed between a position of starting down flow and a position of colliding with gas, of the molten metal flow.
