PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To feed a sheet to a recording section by carrying it in the feeding direction without applying a load onto a motor. SOLUTION: The sheet feed mechanism 1 of a printer comprises a protrusion 26 formed to project from an oscillating arm 19 as a member for holding the oscillating arm 19 at such a position as a sheet feed roller drive gear 10 is not rotated by a second oscillating gear 20 and a transmission gear 23 at the time of sheet refeed operation of the sheet feed mechanism 1 of a printer, and a lever 27 for regulating the position of the oscillating arm 19 by abutting against the protrusion 26.
