PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder for a compacting core to be used for transformers, inductors, electric motors or the like. SOLUTION: In powder for the compacting core with the use of a Fe-Si-Al- based alloy powder, this powder for the compacting core is characterized by having a saturated magnetic flux density (Bs) of 1.3 T or higher, and a powder hardness (Vickers hardness) of 150 or higher but 300 or lower, and comprises, by mass%, 0.5-5% Si, 0.5-5% Al, 0.5-7% Si+Al, and the balance Fe. Thereby, the objective powder for the compacting core, having an improved share of Fe-Si-Al-based alloy powders after molded and adequate core characteristics, can be manufactured with high productivity.
