PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite resin emulsion excellent in polymerization stability and dispersing uniformly. SOLUTION: In this method for producing a composite resin emulsion obtained by polymerizing (B) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of an emulsion of (A) an ethylene-vinyl ester copolymer having (-)30-10 deg.C glass transition temperature, the component (A) contains a partially saponified polyvinyl acetate-based emulsifier, and the component (B) exhibits 30-120 deg.C glass transition temperature of the ethylenic polymer obtained by homopolymerizing the component (B), and the mixing ratio of the components (A) to (B) is set in a specific range. The amounts of these component (A), component (B) and the partially saponified polyvinyl acetate-based emulsifier satisfy a specific relational expression, an oil soluble polymerization initiator is used in the polymerization, and after adding and dispersing the polymerization initiator in the (A) component, the component (B) is added for initiating the polymerization.
