PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a therapeutic agent for cancers such as solid carcinomas and lymphomas. SOLUTION: This medicinal composition contains an imidazolium derivative condensed with an aryl ring or a heteroaryl ring and characterized by being substituted at its 1-position and/or 3-position with a substituted alkyl and is an antitumor agent having good antitumor activity, low toxicity and a wide margin of safety. And, thereby, the composition is useful for treatment of all solid carcinomas and lymphomas and especially useful for tumors such as cutaneous cancer, urinary bladder cancer, mastocarcinoma, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, prostatic cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, renal carcinoma and stomach cancer.
