摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe and inexpensive method for detecting molten steel surface level in a mold in which a longer detection range of the molten steel surface level can be taken, responsiveness is excellent, and a detector is not protruded in an operating range such as a mold upper part. SOLUTION: In the detection of the molten steel surface level in the mold in the continuous casting facility, the molten steel surface level in the mold is continuously detected in the continuous casting facility. Two sets of upper and lower magnetic coils are wound on the outer periphery of a copper plate that forms the mold 3, one magnetic coil is made to be a transmitting coil 7, and the other is made to be a receiving coil 8. Constant frequency and constant voltage are impressed to the transmitting coil 7, and the level position of the molten steel surface in the mold is continuously detected by the change of an electromotive voltage of the receiving coil 8 by the change of magnetic resistance between the two coils according to the change of the molten steel surface level 4.
