PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient and simple manufacturing method of a phase difference film expressing excellent display quality when being incorporated in a liquid crystal display, by arranging a direction of a lag phase axis to the same direction in a face of the phase difference film. SOLUTION: In the method, a vertical uniaxial drawing giving a phase difference by drawing while making a free end of a width direction of a thermoplastic resin film running in a lengthwise direction, adding tension at two front and rear positions and causing deformation under temperature atmosphere in the neighborhood of a glass transition temperature, is characterized in that the distance (L2) from 95% completion of neck-in to 100% completion is longer than the distance (L1) from start of the neck-in to 95% completion in the manufacturing method of the phase difference film. |
