PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dot impact printer which improves the printing speed in a control of changing the printing speed by a printing density, that is, in a printing dot ratio control by checking contents of dots to be printed, and judging and controlling the printing speed, a printing direction and the number of printing times. SOLUTION: The dot impact printer prints by the printing dot ratio control as a control of changing the printing speed by the printing density. The printing speed is improved by allowing a change in a printing method in accordance with the printing density for characters to be printed and a ratio of the printing part to the whole.
