PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a position-adjusting operation of a positioning member easy in a work timber positioning device for a woodworking machine equipped with the positioning member for positioning the work timber with respect to a working edge. SOLUTION: A ruler-adjusting arm 31 is fixed or released from fixation by pushing against or separating a setscrew 83 of a locking mechanism 8 from a projected part 51 by moving it on or back by carrying out a pivotal operation in a vertical direction of an operating lever 7 in a planer. Further, a ruler adjusting arm 31 is allowed to horizontally pivot by using a pin 33 as a fulcrum by carrying out horizontally pivotal operation of the operating lever 7 in a fixation-released state. The ruler 3 is moved in front or in rear and positional control of the ruler 3 to the planer is carried out thereby.
