PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multistage pressing device which keeps the temperature of an intermediate hot plate within a prescribed range and enables molding of a workpiece without generation of heat deterioration of the workpiece even when molding a workpiece of resin which generates high reaction heat. SOLUTION: The multistage pressing device is so composed that a heat- medium passage 24 formed in the intermediate hot plate 5, a pump means for circularly feeding a heat-medium to the heat-medium passage, and a heat- medium temperature adjusting means for adjusting the temperature of the heat- medium, are provided. When hot clamping the workpiece by the device, the temperature of the intermediate hot plate is controlled by keeping the temperature of the heat-medium within a prescribed range with the heat-medium temperature adjusting means.
